THUMPER is an exceptionally high yielding, quick-mid potential AH wheat.
It offers a large yield improvement within the mid-quick maturity class. THUMPER has a 3% yield improvement over Calibre and 4% over Scepter and Devil within 2019-22 long-term InterGrain trials.
THUMPER has a maturity similar to Calibre and Devil, slower than Vixen and is ideally suited to and sowing from mid-May onwards, an excellent main season wheat option.
In addition to the variety's stand-out yield performance it offers good stripe rust (MRMSp) and yellow leaf spot resistance (MRMSp).
THUMPER offers good lodging resistance, an improvement compared to Calibre. Additionally, the variety has a suitable tillering capacity and is expected to provide adequate early vigour, useful in assisting weed competition. However, optimal seeding rates and plant densities should always be considered to ensure the crop is provided with every chance to perform at its best.
THUMPER possesses a good grain size, reducing screenings risk, and has adequate test weight. It also has a medium plant height and coleoptile. THUMPER is currently classified as an APW in the Western zone with an AH classification expected soon.
