News Update 28th October 2025

Posted on October 28, 2025

As 2025 concludes it look as though we will harvest a near record crop.

Some of the new varieties coming through are showing a lot of potential. Wheat varieties like Tomahawk CL, Vortex & Shotgun are looking very good, the new noodle variety from AGT Rottnest & AGT Carnac are taking yields to a new level combined with prices are making them a real choice.

New season varieties Dale (AH), LRPB Sonic (AH), RGT Marsh all seem to show lots of potential and it will be interesting to watch the NVT data. LRPB Sonic & RGT Marsh were some of the highest yielders in 2024 and it will be interesting to see how they yield this year.

We are spoilt for choice in the barley world with old favourites like Maximus CL still the most widely grown.

New varieties that have been released this year include Kirwan CL - acid tolerant Clearfield, Rocket CL, Ember, Soldier Cl & AGT-Bunyip IA.

Oat varieties include Minnie a new Milling variety with short -medium stature, Goldie sold in 2024 has quickly firmed into a favourite as both a hay and grain oat. Archer & Kingbale are still the two favoured Imi Oats.

Lupins look like they will yield well in 2025, the Rosemont sold in 2024 is showing good potential and is the pick of the bunch.

Peas the new Bondi has performed well and is having a good fit in the Wheat, Canola & Pea rotation and in the right country I think it works well.

Always remember that any seed that you have brought should have an accompanying seed test to show Germination & Purity (Weed Seeds), the dearest load of seed maybe the one your purchased from your neighbour with resistant weeds or low germ.

Hoping everyone has a bountiful harvest and an uneventful one. All the best for the season ahead.
